Acura NSX Dares To Challenge Tesla Model S P100D In 1/4 Mile Drag Race

Since there aren’t many supercars that can keep up with a Tesla Model S P100D over short distances, perhaps it’s time for everyone to acknowledge just how quick the all-new NSX really is.

This is the same NSX that ran a 1/4 mile in just over 11 seconds last week, maxing out at 124 mph (200 km/h) as it crossed the finish line. It’s also mostly stock, with the only modification being a Fabspeed exhaust system. It may not be as powerful as the P100D, but its 581 PS (573 HP) and 686 Nm (506 lb-ft) of torque is nothing to laugh at.

The two cars raced twice, though the second time, the Model S didn’t have as good a start as it did during the first run. Either way, it was really close, with just 0.14 seconds between them.

So, did the NSX manage to outrun the all-conquering Tesla? There’s only one way to find out: just press the play button in the video that follows right after the jump.

Get on that hype train. Your savior Elon Musk demands it!

  • ace_9

Oh oh ! Tesla is the quickest on a drag strip. Surely that must be the priority for every car owner !

  • Six_Tymes

the nsx does not sound stock. and the tesla was not fully charged.

    • Bo Hanan

There’s video on EVO magazine of an NSX hanging with an Aventador. Tesla is 1-trick-Pony. The AMG GT also beats the Tesla in a rolling start.

    • LWOAP

No it isn’t. It has an aftermarket exhaust.

    • D83

Only FAB exhaust, the rest is stock, as the owner mentioned it.

    • TechLegend

That’s going to be the new excuse at tracks in 20 years when it’s dominated by EV cars? “Dude, I almost had you. Only if my battery had like … 10% more charge.”

  • salamOOn

great… first day of 2018 and already my two “favourite” post are here….. tesla drag races and stupid cgi/photoshops….

    • LWOAP

      We’re off to a great start 🙂

  • Nick099

    Whoopee-do!
Tesla stock is in the top ten most shorted stocks and teetering on collapse.
Fast in a straight line is the least of their concerns.

  • tkindred

Why all the Tesla hate? I personally think it is very interesting how a family sedan can keep up with sportscars with various drive trains, at least in a straight line. I am not a Tesla fan or a hater.

    • The thing to remember is it’s only when it’s fully charged and a 1/4 mile drag strip.

  • Bash

Give me that NSX; in black please.

  • Craig

Of these two – I would take the NSX.

  • D83

Electric cars have advantage of instant torque of their 4-wheel drive, while combustion engine may lack of it. But once the speed gained, the combustion engine start to produce speed.

From this video, Tesla show dominance from the start & until 201m, but NSX catches up from 201m to 402m. In Conclusion, both cars have identical ET, the winner will be depend on RT.
