BMW 1M Coupe With Custom Exhaust Sounds Like A Machine Gun Firing

Monaco’s scenery is usually dominated by exotic rides, but one BMW 1M Coupe managed to stand out a few days ago.

This is a limited edition of the car that preceded the M2 and was produced in just 6,309 units, including the 740 sold in the United States and 220 shipped to Canada.

Compared, by some, to the original M3 E30, it’s powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six that sends 335hp and 450Nm (332lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels. This allows it to hit 100km/h (62mph) from a standstill in just 4.9 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph).

Its performance and limited availability would be enough to make it a head turner, but the owner of this particular car, which has Swiss license plates, wanted a bit more, so he fitted it with a custom body kit, a special wrap and black wheels.

However, what made it a real head turner is the special exhaust system that basically makes it sound like an Group B rally car – and that’s high praise indeed. The backfires bring it extra points too, although we can imagine his neighbors might not be too thrilled…

You mean 6309? Cmon let the man enjoy his car.

Hello, my fellow American. Today’s geography lesson is about the Principality of Monaco.
We’ll start with it’s location: Monaco is a city-state located in south-western part of Europe and it borders France – another European country – and the Mediterranean sea.

Leaving aside comments on what he did on the car, i still think the 1M is one of the best BMWs of the latest years. It has that mix of compactness and style that makes it look aggressive. This and the 2M as well, although i am not very fond of the design of the latest BMWs

The latest fad in performance cars. Sounds more like a popcorn making machine… While I have to admit they are cool to hear, the problem I find with the latest “exhaust notes” is that they all sound the same. Most mid-perfomance cars have a non-distinct, clearly-engineered sound. They seem synthetic and non-unique. Audi S, MB 45 AMGs, BMW M2, etc.. have the same crackels sound at throttle lift. They remind me of the prev gen Infinity sound, their 35 engines had this distinct tone to them (very synthetic), that while nice, it was off-putting at the same time. As a car enthusiast, I enjoys hearing some engine personality on the exhaust. Maybe I´m just getting old.

all that pops and crackles but got beaten by the sound of the m3 for me

Sadly, didn’t seem like much. Car is cool, sound was meh. I have heard Fiat 500 Abarth’s sound louder and cooler than that sound.

Again, not the car, just sound.
