Chevrolet’s New 2018 Tahoe RST Is Intriguing, But Is It Worth $78,000?

SUVs are all the rage nowadays and one of the most popular from General Motors is the large Chevrolet Tahoe.

Like the Suburban, the Tahoe is a behemoth but earlier this year, the brand introduced a sporty RST package for the SUV despite its size. Hoovies Garage recently jumped behind the wheel of the $78,000 Chevrolet to see if it is worth the money.

Compared to a standard Tahoe, the RST includes a Borla high-performance exhaust system and optional Brembo six-piston front calipers alongside mammoth 410 x 32 mm discs.

From a visual standpoint, Tahoe RST customers receive a gloss black front grille, black roof rails, unique badging, and 22-inch wheels wrapped in Bridgestone rubber.

Earlier this month, Chevrolet introduced a host of updates for its Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle and Hoovies Garage also had the chance to test it out.

Currently there is NO American luxury SUV on the market that is worth over $60K.

    • Nordschleife

      Especially a Tahoe.

    • Victor Ferreira

Eh, I 99% agree. The new Navigator (is that on sale yet?) looks more interesting than the German/Japanese offerings.

      • SteersUright

The Navigator finally has the interior it needed, but the exterior is SOOO bad it would need an immediate rebate as an apology to customers.

        • Victor Ferreira

I personally think that a 2018 Expedition with the 2018 Navigator interior would be great. Regardless, I’m interested in seeing GM’s response to Ford’s new offerings.

    • Karl

      Not true

      • Bo Hanan

        Name one.

        • Karl

Ok, I will name two, Escalade and Navigator!

          • Bo Hanan

            ???

          • Karl

Ok Batman where are you going with this?

          • Jay

You didn’t understand. Yes they costed over $60k but he’s saying they weren’t worth that price..

          • Karl

Shows how much you know buddy!

  • :/ Yurr

Nope not worth it , it’s nice though😁.

  • nastinupe

Not Impressed. I would go with a Factory Certified 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV Platinum with 20,000 miles and a 100,000 mile/7 year warranty for $55k.

    • Bo Hanan

      Holla!

  • john1168

This RST is nice and I wouldn’t mind owning one but yeah, it’s pricey. I love how they put the new 10 speed in it and the MRSC shocks but I do wish it had an independent rear suspension. Rumor has is the next Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade will have an IRS. I hope so.

    • FactChecker90803

You cant TOW with a vehicle that has IRS, I heard that Rumor as well, the IRS will go on the 1500 but the 2500 keeps its solid rear.

  • Honda NSX-R

Nope rather have a Yukon Denali

    • john1168

Can one get the more powerful engine, the 10 speed and mrsc shock on the Yukon? It would be nice if you could.

      • Jay

More powerful? It’s the same engine from with Escalade. If I’m not mistaken the Yukon Denali also has it too.
