New Mercedes G-Class Is Already On The ‘Used’ Car Market

The all-new G-Class might have just been unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, yet a German car dealership wants to sell you a brand new one for €133,600 ($163,476). That’s a hefty premium over the €107,040.50 ($130,977) starting price in its homeland, but hardly surprising as it’s common practice for new, sought-after models…

Since production has yet to commence, however, you won’t be getting delivery of the SUV just yet, but a build slot for an already commissioned example.

The seller’s homepage states that this is the G500, which is the only designation of the 2019 G-Class currently available. It uses a 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine that makes 422PS (416hp) and 610Nm (450lb-ft) of torque, returning a claimed 11.1 l/100 km (25 UK mpg / 21.2 US mpg) and emitting 263 g/km of CO2.

Finished in Obsidian Black, riding on 20-inch AMG wheels and featuring brown upholstery and wood trim inside, this Mercedes-Benz G-Class features a host of optional extras. The list includes the Driving Assistance Package, 360-degree camera system, ambient lighting, Burmester premium sound system, rear entertainment system and a sunroof.

Can I buy an used 2019 Glass Wagon now? I will pay $80K with zero miles on it!

    • lagunas3ca

Crazy at $80K you would be overpaying by about $5K for a brand new G500 in 2002.

Come on Merc, you couldn’t find any square side view mirrors?

    • stelvio

      You have good eyes

    • Merc1

Now that you mention it, I agree completely.

    • Six_Tymes

I read they choose these mirrors to cut down on wind noise. Apparently they did try many styles but all caused too much wind noise. But yeah…

      • Bo Hanan

This truck is not about aerodynamics and Merc knows it (Smile).
And the previous generation E-Class had very tasteful rectangular mirrors that would be perfect.

The more I see of this new G-Class the more I long for the old G-Class. This looks so watered down and feminine whereas the last iteration of the G-Class (especially with the AMG package) looked so macho and beastly.

Also, a G500 returning 11.1L/100 km? Haha, yeah right.

    • Nordschleife

Yes you can definitely tell it’s a softer than it’s previous iteration.

  • Nordschleife

I am kind of tired and annoyed of reading about people selling their build slots. Maybe because I can’t afford to buy it but I just feel like this is getting ridiculous.

    • Yeah and what’s the point? in times everyone else will own the car anyway.

  • lagunas3ca

This new design would be fitting for an entry level 6-cylinder G400. Similar to what they quietly did with the SL400. The price of entry dropped by $20K and many of the options of its pricier siblings were still available.
