There’s a certain lore that surrounds Porsche – especially to its nomenclature. Names, numbers, and acronyms that wouldn’t mean anything to most of us can carry a great deal of meaning for enthusiasts of the marque.

The automaker doesn’t necessarily want its terminology to confuse everyone, especially as it expands its sales beyond the niche and into the (relative) mainstream.

So it’s put together a series of videos answering common questions that fans have. The first addressed the origins of the 911 nameplate, and it’s since released two more to explain to the public where its name comes from, and what the initials PDK stand for.
