Acura Teases All-New 2019 RDX, Debuts At NY Auto Show

Acura‘s all-new RDX crossover is coming to this year’s New York International Auto Show.

The new model will launch in mid-2018 and is the first in a new generation of Acura products to boast the automaker’s new design language, as well as a Precision Cockpit-inspired interior with the new True Touchpad Interface.

Aside from the car itself, Acura will also unveil a brand new spec for the RDX, called A-Spec – the very first application of the sport appearance variant to an Acura SUV. The A-Spec will boast “sport appearance detailing”, according to the Japanese automaker, both inside and out.

As for other noteworthy 2019 RDX features, there is the Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, a new 2.0-liter VTEC Turbo engine, a segment-first 10-speed automatic transmission and the NSX-inspired Integrated Dynamics System – overall, this should be the quickest and best-handling RDX ever.

The all-new 2019 RDX was designed and developed in the U.S. for the very first time, styled at the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, and developed in Raymond, Ohio. The new model will be produced at the automaker’s East Liberty, Ohio plant, while the new VTEC turbo engine will be coming from Anna, Ohio.

The unveiling will be live-streamed on Acura’s YouTube, Facebook and Twitter pages, March 28th.

    Small brakes, smell like cabbage.

acura seems to show their redesigned vehicles as prototypes a lot – then change up the style too much. in other words, i don’t expect anything different for the RDX. it’ll probably be decently different than the prototype shown earlier.

  • Rocket

The most interesting Acura launch in quite some time. I’m not crazy about the switch to 4-cylinder power, but I understand the need for it.

  • Honda NSX-R

That’s looking good, these will fly off the lots once it goes on sale

  • Six_Tymes

All I would like to know is, is it built on the same chassis? Or rather, the same uni-body? Because, the other has been around since its beginning.

  • Craig

The FIRST RDX came with a turbo 4.

The A-spec pack used to be more than an appearance package. On the old TL Type S, it added lower springs, tuned shocks, stiffer sway bars, and Brembos. That was in addition to the body kit.
