Skoda Kamiq Crossover: First Look Inside

A week prior to the start of the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, Chinese media has published more images with the new Skoda Kamiq.

And for the first time, we catch a glimpse of the interior, which, unsurprisingly, looks similar, up to a point, to the one of the Karoq and Kodiaq.

The dashboard welcomes an infotainment system with physical buttons on the left side, flanked by vertical air vents.

The climate control appears to be taken straight from its two siblings, and the Kamiq also welcomes an identical three-spoke multi-function steering wheel.

Unlike Skoda’s high-riding vehicles, which are offered in Western markets, this China-only crossover has more storage spaces, including one on top of the dashboard and one in front of the gearshift lever. Speaking of which, this model has an automatic transmission, but we reckon that base grades will come with a manual gearbox, both of them married to a 110PS (108hp / 81kW) naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter petrol engine.

Skoda will unveil the Kamiq on April 25, at the Beijing Auto Show, and a couple of months later, it will go on sale locally. Pricing is estimated to start at approximately 90,000-100,000 yuan (equal to $14,327-$15,919), and putting it together will be the Shanghai Volkswagen joint venture.
