BMW has just delivered 18 special i8 Roadsters at BMW Welt in Munich to the international BMW i8 Club.

These 18 vehicles are among the very first i8 Roadsters delivered to customers and part of a production run of just 200 First Edition models to be built. Each of the 200 First Edition models to be produced include a special plaque and these cars also receive a badge denoting them as ‘1 of 18’.

“The BMW i8 Roadster represents many things that are unique about BMW: fascinating design, visionary technology and sustainable mobility, but, particularly, emotion and sheer driving pleasure,” head of Sales and Marketing BMW Germany, Peter van Binsbergen said.

“This sportscar was built for people like the BMW i8 Club members: absolute automobile enthusiasts who love cars and dare to defy conventions and try new things. It therefore gives me great personal pleasure to present the 18 BMW i8 Roadsters to the BMW i8 Club.”

The BMW i8 Roadster First Edition differs from the regular model with 20-inch, light allow wheels in Jet Black. Additionally, the First Edition includes matte black trim throughout the interior and a travel package that includes Alcantara partitions in the storage compartment behind the seats.

Like the i8 Coupe, the BMW i8 Roadster features a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with an electric motor. All up, it delivers 374 hp and can accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds.
