Honda Civic Type R Hits Forza Motorsport 7 In Latest Update

Have you been yearning to drive the Honda Civic Type R, but for one reason or another can’t get your hands on one? This could be the next best thing.

The developers at Turn 10 have added the Japanese hot hatch to Forza Motorsport 7 as part of its latest update. And, best of all, it’s absolutely free – no special downloadable content packs or subscription plans needed.

Unfortunately it’s the only new car added so far this month. But what a car it is. As far as hot hatches go, the latest Type R is arguably the ultimate. Demonstrably the ultimate, actually, having taken the front-drive lap record at the Nurburgring away from the Renaults and Seats that have been fighting over the bragging rights for years now.

The specs should be familiar by now to any hot-hatch enthusiast. The top Civic packs a 2.0-liter turbo fou, sending 306 horsepower to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. No trick all-wheel drive systems, no fancy paddle shifters. Just old-school muscle in a versatile package that you could enjoy every day.

That is, if you can get one. It’s priced from a relatively modest $33,900. That makes it a performance bargain, but of course not everyone has that kind of cash just sitting around. So if you don’t, but do have an Xbox (or PC) and a copy of Forza 7, you can drive it virtually to your heart’s content. It should already be in your digital garage if you have the Car Pass subscription, or you can download it manually (for free). Sure beats a minivan, doesn’t it?

Meh….still ugly and Turn 10 will probably ban it from online use like they did the Honda Odyssey and other vehicles.

Sure it’s a cool addition many will like it.

  • Really hate the way FM7 makes you trying to collect all the cars, and not to mention the crate box.. ughhh

Don’t forget the online play. It’s pretty much just a demolition derby simulator.

In the case of the Odyssey, people were using it to block others and just outright ramming others off the track. Instead of punishing the actual offenders, Turn 10 just banned the thing from online multiplayer.

That’s sad. I’m contemplating to buy and xbox just for playing forza, but I keep hearing that multiplayer is practically unusable. Combined with the fact, that I almost stopped playing games, I think I will just keep contemplating 😀

Well hopefully you’ll find something that’s up your alley.

Forza 6 and Horizon 3 is going to be where the franchise has peaked. Forza 7 is trash.

Forza 7 is trash because??? I’m having a blast playing it on PC with max graphic settings.

I see you edited your comment.

I have plenty of reasons why, but the TLDR version is, if you have played every single Forza to death, and you boot up F7 on prelaunch (£80 edition) you will know why it is absolute trash. If you’re only jumping in for its first PC foray, you have nothing to compare it to.

Don’t they still allow the Mercedes semi truck in A class lobbies?

I’m not entirely sure I haven’t been keeping up to date on everything.
