From the Ford F-150 Raptor to the Mercedes-Benz GLA, some Chinese companies just can’t resist the temptation to copy Western products.

Zotye is one of the companies that infamously replicated the Porsche Macan, and now, its sister brand, Hanteng, is doing something similar with one of their upcoming products that looks a lot like the offspring of a Jaguar F-Pace.

These patent images that surfaced on numerous Chinese sites including Bitauto, show a very F-Pace-like front and a Jaguar-Porsche mix at the rear, with the ‘Hanteng’ lettering sitting on the tailgate, between the slender taillights.

It’s too soon to talk about details, but Chinese media speculates that it might slot between the existing X5 and X7. That would be Hanteng again, and not BMW, with two other SUVs that have something very Hyundai-ish in their design.

We’ll probably see the production model at the Chengdu Auto Show. The 10-day event is scheduled to open its gates on September 7.

Hanteng was actually present at Auto China 2018 with yet another Jaguar-ish clone, the one pictured above. Simply called the Hanteng EV, it’s a near-production concept that’s believed to hit the assembly lines as the X3, powered by a gasoline engine and offered in pure-electric form, too.
