Alfa Romeo Mole Costruzione Artigianale 001 Is A One-Off Coachbuilt 4C

What you see here is the latest creation of Italian Mole Automobile called the Alfa Romeo Mole Costruzione Artigianale 001.

Based off the chassis of a 4C, this one-off creation features a unique bodywork that blends Alfa Romeo’s latest design language with more evocative supercar lines like the louvered rear clamshell and a Zagato-like rear end.

Judging from the photos, the Mole Costruzione Artigianale 001 looks much wider than a normal Alfa Romeo 4C. It has undeniable road presence and to these eyes looks like a successful modern take on Alfa’s mid-engined sports car.

Mole also updated the interior of its latest one-off creation, with the dashboard now being covered in leather and the plastic HVAC controls along with the air vents replaced with others made of aluminum.

The shop also created a matching line of bags from Tramontano, because this is Italy and bags should be coordinated with your car at all times.

We still don’t know any technical details of the Mole Costruzione Artigianale 001, with the regular Alfa Romeo 4C using a turbocharged 1,8-liter four-cylinder engine with 237 hp (176 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. This is enough to send the Alfa Romeo 4C from 0 to 60mph in 4.1 seconds and onto a top speed of 160mph (257km/h).

The one-off Alfa Romeo Mole Costruzione Artigianale 001 will make its public debut on June 6 at the Salone Auto Torino in Italy, so stay tuned for more details.

  • I like it.

    • Cool guy

      go buy it

    • Andrewthecarguy

This could easily be made into the Maserati version Marchionne did not deliver.

      • It would be hard to make 4C platform into Maserati, I doubt they can make it luxurious enough.

  • Bo Hanan

Bigger/better (minus interior) than the production car. Why no bigger/better engine?

    • Matt

It’s a coach built car, not an all-new model. The 4C motor is perfect for the size and weight of the car.

      • Bo Hanan

I know its one-off. And my comments speak to the direction I wish ALFA had gone with the 4C. Thanks for knowing everything.

        • Matt

Well it certainly read like you were talking about this particular car.

    • Well they haven’t comment on spec yet, if they don’t issue their own VIN, the car can be modified up to the customer wishes. If they had their own VIN, every mechanical modification must be certified and it’s unlikely to be offered.

  • kachuks

The snout sticks out a bit too much, but I like the overall look.

  • Jason Panamera

It’s a stunning car but they have changed the sexiest part of 4C, It’s back.

  • eb110americana

Quite stunning. I’d be a much bigger fan of the 4C if it looked like this…and it was cheaper.

  • enthusia

its interesting, but given the choice, i’d rather take the standard 4c

  • Kash

What the 4C should’ve looked like from the launch, or at least the facelift. Edit: Actually looks like it fits in with the Giulia and Stelvio design wise.

  • Zandit75

Step 1: Take an already good looking car, then completely stuff it up with a ridiculous wide body shell.
Step 2: Take a decent looking interior, and completely remove any functional airvents and replace them with mesh that gives you no control over where the air flow is going.
Step 3: Turn already decent looking HVAC controls into something that reminds you of old Rotex stereo components.
Step 4: disregard the engine altogether.

    Result: Fail.

    • LeStori

      It’s called Uglifying a car .

  • Wow I’ve seen some rendering but I had no idea that this car already exists, and I love it. But I bet it’s not cheap.

  • Vassilis

    Nice!

  • Bob

I like any angle on this that doesn’t show me the front or the back, or the side. Also, the interior. So the roof, I like the roof only.

  • JorgeDeeeeeaz

Overall I like it. THere is a lot of Bugatti Chiron in the front though….

  • haudit

I’d prefer a rear light treatment closer to the standard 4C, but the rest of the car is a considerable improvement, especially the front.

  • DMax

Not a fan of this. Too many incoherent creases, especially on the rear end, looks like sagging pants or something. The rear also looking a bit too similar to Zagato Aston.

  • AstonMartin

Great looking one-off, love it. Rooting for Alfa and Maserati to be successful.

    • Well apparently they offered the same conversion with 4C, no price are mentioned though.

  • maserati123

Y don’t Alfa build this car??

  • SteersUright

Cool, but really no beauty which is major shame. This is every car enthusiast’s dream, to rebody an awesome car. It should have come out looking stunning rather than just “cool” as it does.
