Audi Teases New Electric PB18 E-Tron Supercar Concept Ahead Of August 23 Debut

Audi will reveal the new PB18 e-tron concept at the Laguna Seca on August 23 before taking it at the 2018 Pebble Beach Car Week in Monterey.

The new show car will be an all-electric supercar study, with Audi releasing a dark teaser image of the car’s front end. The name PB18 refers to the Pebble Beach venue and the year of its debut.

Audi was careful not to reveal any details about its latest concept, only saying that the PB18 E-Tron is inspired by the Le Mans-winning R18 E-Tron in many of the electric supercar’s details.

The German car maker is keen on communicating its focus on electrification and the new supercar concept will act as a halo car for its E-Tron sub-brand. Audi is gearing up for the launch of its first all-electric car, the E-Tron SUV, which is set for a debut on September 17. Order books for the new E-Tron SUV are already open, with customers able to place a $1,000 reservation.

The new concept car, which was penned by Audi’s new Malibu Design Loft,  will be shown at “The Quail” on August 24 and at the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach on August 26.

  • Ohhh can’t wait to see it, and I hope this one will led to somewhere, previously around 2012ish. Audi were on track to make a car based on their R18, diesel engine and LMP styling, but the project pace were a bit slow and with the Dieselgate, they pretty much dead.

Audi…I’d never buy one used as they are reliability nightmares. That said, damn they make some of the coolest cars on the road today. Wish they’d one day seriously address their reliability and longevity issues. Imagine a reliable German car!

I’m ultra curious to understand how it is possible that every year Audi puts on the market 2,000 new models, an unquantifiable series of prototypes. But where does it take the money if it sells 1.4 million Auto per year?

Audi’s established itself in the supercar market, it’s common sense that they’ll follow suit in the electric supercar realm.
