Fully Loaded 2012 Mercedes E63 AMG Wagon Fails To Convince Bidders

While this silver over light grey 2012 Mercedes E63 AMG Wagon does have 64,000 miles (102,998 km) on the clock, it looks really well-maintained and is equipped with multiple factory options, among them the P30 Performance Package.

As a $7,300 option, the P30 Performance Package boosts power and torque to 550 horses and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm), instead of the factory standard 520 HP (525 PS) and 515 lb-ft (700 Nm), for a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than four seconds. It also adds a sports suspension, 10-spoke alloys, red brake calipers and the AMG performance steering wheel.

According to the seller, who posted the ad on Bring a Trailer, the car has not been in need of any cosmetic work, although there are a few scrapes on the rocker panels.

Spacious and sporty

The interior has grey leather seats (power/memory/heated/ventilated), a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, remote start and retractable screens for the rear doors and cargo area. Aside from a little discoloration on the rear seats, the cabin seems to be in pretty good condition.

This car was also last serviced just 4,000 miles (6,437 km) ago, when it was fitted with new brake rotors and pads, new batteries, new spark plugs, air filters and a sunroof inspection, the latter being something everyone should worry about when it comes to used cars.

In the end though, the Merc failed to find a buyer, with the highest bid ($40,250) not meeting the reserve. Maybe we’ll see it some other time, then…

“new brake rotors and pads, new batteries, new spark plugs, air filters”. that service right there probably cost 40 grand. lol

    What was the reserve?

    • nastinupe

They don’t tell you, that’s the point.

Weren’t these Era of Mercs the poorest in terms of quality or had they addressed the issues by then?

I think you’re thinking of the previous ones. We also have a W212 E350 (albeit a 2014 model), and over 80,000 miles it hasn’t given us a single headache, or required anything other than regular maintenance (although the start/stop system did stop working at around 70,000 miles). I honestly think the reason this car didn’t sell was merely that reserve was set too high. Let’s face it, $40,000 for an almost seven year old Mercedes that sold new for around $100,000 is probably even more than what it’s worth, considering these cars are typically worth far less than 40% of their value after four or five years.

      • Loquacious Borborygmus

        Ah, ok.

  • Hey, where are the auto enthusiasts always harping about station wagons? A perfect opportunity for them to put their money where their mouth is…

    • Mr. EP9

Pretty sure they were the ones bidding on it but figured the reserve was too high. No matter how much you like a car, price also plays a key part in the buying decision.

  • KSegg

Second this. $40K for a 6+ year old AMG is a decent deal.

Considering AMG’s tank like crazy with depreciation the second a sucker buys one new.

Who in their right mind would pay over $40,000 for a 2012 Mb station wagon with 65,000 miles, with barely and increase in horsepower, no Amg body kit or custom wheels to say “look at me I’m fast”, discolored back seats, prehistoric dash and center console and what really irks me is it doesn’t even have a factory tint on the windows, who and why would anyone be willing to pay more than the bid, other than a millionaire that needed a daily driver for Starbuck runs.
