Mercedes UK has announced pricing details fpr the range-topping X350d version of the X-Class, which is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel unit.

The new addition to the X-Class lineup offers 255hp (258PS) and 405lb-ft (550Nm) and is paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission. The standard 4Matic all-wheel drive system comes with three different modes, including a low range option for the most hardcore off-roaders out there.

The safety kit is pretty impressive and includes Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Brake Assist (radar-based autonomous emergency braking), Traffic Sign Assist, Hill-Start Assist, Downhill Speed Regulation, a Thatcham anti-theft security package and a load securing rail system.

The new Mercedes X-350d is offered in the Power trim level only, which includes painted bumpers with simulated under guard in chrome; a rear bumper in chrome with integrated step; fog lights with chrome surround; shoulder line trim strips in chrome; LED high-performance headlights with cleaning system; LED tail lights; electrically folding exterior mirrors; and Keyless Go as standard.

The interior also comes with features usually found in premium models, but then again, this is a Mercedes pickup truck. Features include eight-way electrically adjustable and heated driver and front passenger seats, leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles and cruise control, leather and microfiber upholstery, leather dashboard with topstitching which also features an aluminum interior trim, among others.

Mercedes says that first deliveries of the new X350d are expected this November, with prices starting from £38,350, excluding VAT.

The Mercedes is a much-improved vehicle. The ride/handling and refinement levels are superior to the Navara’s. It also looks better.

Plus the Mercedes-only V6 makes this one of the most powerful trucks in the class, just below the Amarok. You can’t get this engine in the Nissan.
