Cadillac’s XT4 Would Look Excellent As A V-Series Performance Model

What do consumers love even more than SUVs? Performance SUVs, that’s what.

Over the years, the market for high-performance SUVs and crossovers has absolutely exploded. Consumers now have an abundance of vehicles that offer blistering performance while offering enough cabin space for a family and trunk space for a dog or two. The question is, could Cadillac cash in on this booming market?

To give us an idea of what a possible Cadillac XT4-based V model could look like, All Car News has come up with this pair of intriguing renderings that show the XT4-V adorned with a plethora of styling changes fitting of a V-badged model.

For example, the SUV’s ride height has been dropped and a pair of gloss black wheels were installed. Elsewhere, the vehicle adopts a bespoke hood with a prominent air extractor and large bulge to support the (mandatory) beefed-up engine.

A host of modification have also been made to the SUV’s rear fascia. For example, there’s an enlarged spoiler stretching back from the roof, a tweaked bumper, and a pair of dual tailpipes. Completing the modifications are the removal of the two rear doors – which is the only part that sticks out like a sore thumb.

While it is possible that Cadillac will release a V-branded SUV in the future, there’s absolutely no chance it would do so with a three-door. There’s no indication such an XT4 is in the pipeline, and GM certainly wouldn’t have gone to all that trouble solely for one version.

As for a XT4-based V model, we think it would be the perfect answer to vehicles like the Audi RS Q3 and Mercedes-AMG GLA45.

    Yep, it would, only IF.

cadillac knows how to do front face really well. but their side profile designs are very generic and economy box.

  • Muskat M

I am not fond of the design but i really love the colour.

  • Philip George

That looks wonderfully menacing. Shame GM/Cadillac would never build something like that. They’d prefer something really boring.

    • Bo Hanan

What’s sad is that its probably a great car but just last on most peoples list of small SUV’s.

  • TheBelltower

A 3-door is pointless. But this style is absolutely do-able, regardless of whether it has a V-engine or not.

    • Belthronding

      totally agree with this,sir

  • Rick Astley

Wow, the lower position of the logo on the grill looks better.

  • charlotteharry57

Not a fan. I think it looks ridiculous.

  • Jason R.

This thing is way overpriced with any extra options non V spec so I just cant imagine it ending well lol Path of the ELR at the end of the day pretty but too damn expensive.

  • Tom

    i would buy a V6 powered 3-door XT4 in a heartbeat.

  • SteersUright

    Looks hideous.

  • Nordschleife

I am not mad at this. Could you imagine the cajoles Cadillac would have to make a 3-door XT4. Like an Evoque coupè incarnate. Even as a regular XT4 I think it would be a good look for them. C’mon Caddy get some cajoles.

It will NEVER be a 2 door suv. There was a video or a few pictures of a GM performance SUV being tested about a week ago. It was rumored to be a CORVETTE suv. I think it’s possible it could have been a Cadillac performance suv too. Stay tuned…

  • OD. LP

I actually really like the two door version of this lil’guy

  • Paul

I like the V Series idea but not like this, and definitely the 2 door idea is a farce.

It will take time since Cadillac was only gearing their “V”, V-Sport to their sedans. The new change is that they are limited the “V” to only one sedan. All the rest get V-Sport. Performance crossover for Cadillac will come for sure, maybe in four or fives years from now 2022.
