VW has just announced it is offering a new trim level, named the R-Line, for the Up! city car.

Available as an optional extra, it starts from €795 ($922) in Germany and adds several features that make the Up! stand out from lesser variants.

The front and rear bumpers now have a sportier look, there’s chrome trim for the fog lamp bezels, a silver-colored trim strip in the grille, side sills finished in the same shade as the rest of the car, and a blacked out roof and side mirror casings.

The Up! R-Line gets privacy rear windows, said to be 65 percent light-absorbing, 16-inch ‘Triangle’ multi-spoke wheels shod in 185/50 tires and fog lamps in the Move Up! and High Up! grades. Paying more gets you 17-inch rims with 195/40 tires, which can be finished in black or glossy black.

The R-Line package is all about the exterior, which means that the interior remains untouched.
