With their ‘Avantgarde’ baby stroller, Mercedes is looking to help new parents transport their children in style. Tasked with manufacturing the new pram was German company Hartan, while an expert on child mobility was also consulted for the project.

According to the automaker, this stroller meets the highest requirements in terms of material selection and production quality, and even bears the German Association for Technical Inspection (TUV) seal of approval.

Lightweight design

The ‘Avantgarde’ weighs just 8.9 kg (19.6 lbs), with the stylish 4.1 kg (9 lbs) GTX seat unit. Its Solight Ecco air-chamber tires allow it to move effortlessly over multiple types of surfaces, while the dual-tone black/silver 5-twin-spoke AMG design wheels add more flair – it’s a design that’s also available on the C-Class.

Other practical features include the parking brake, telescopic handlebar, a stowage compartment, height-adjustable footrest with safety reflectors, upholstered check strap and a fold-out sun visor.

Customers can get the Avantgarde stroller in different color variations. For example, the ‘Dessin Sport’ version, fitted with an iridium silver carrier, boasts a combination of black/anthracite/grey/silver with red seams, as well as red piping on the hood for a more dynamic aesthetic. Meanwhile, the ‘Dolce Vita’ variant in beige/sand/brown has an ‘Arsenica’ carrier which is said to look “timelessly elegant”.

Last but not least is the ‘Dessin Deep Sea” design in anthracite grey/dove blue with a ‘Seaskin’ carrier, which is supposed to be more fashionable.

As if all that wasn’t enough, you can also opt for multiple accessories courtesy of Mercedes and Hartan. They range from the sunshade umbrella, custom changing bag and foot muff, to the head restraint and wind shield for the GTX seat unit. Also available is an organizer for storing a wallet, keys and mobile phone, as well as a rain hood.

The Mercedes of baby carriages will go on sale starting November 2018.
