Audi RSQ E-Tron Was Designed For Will Smith In Spies In Disguise

If you like animated movies as well as cars, then remember to keep an eye out next year for Twentieth Century Fox’s film, Spies in Disguise, set to be released in cinemas in September of 2019.

The movie stars Will Smith and Tom Holland, the former providing the voice for super-spy Lance Sterling, who gets to drive a fictional Audi concept car dubbed the RSQ e-tron, that was designed specifically for the silver screen.

Features on the car include a hologram speedometer, electric mobility and fully automated driving technology – something any self-respecting future spy wouldn’t do without.

Audi takes a digital, forward-looking approach to the design process, both in developing fictional content and in the production modeling studio,” stated Frank Rimili, head of Exterior Design Studio 3 at Audi. “At Audi Design, we combine state-of-the-art digital visualization techniques with handmade precision. These processes enable us to implement futuristic design ideas with the same precision in the development of a fictional virtual concept vehicle such as the RSQ e-tron.”

According to Audi, this concept will help to further build awareness for their fully electric e-tron products, as its presence in a movie about future technologies that can save the world “is the perfect match for the Audi brand,” added Audi marketing VP, Giovanni Perosino.

“Similar to our cars, fun, innovation and performance are key elements of the storyline.”

Audi will continue to collaborate with Twentieth Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios to produce another animated content piece next year, featuring the two main characters of Spies in Disguise.

So they can design concepts such as the (2010) E-Tron Spyder, The Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo Concept, & This… but we for some reason can not seem to get the Second Generation R8 right?

    • performante

I think this might be a sneak peak at the R8’s replacement.

Would I love that (make a few tweaks to the facia and tail lights, and I am all in), But… The first generation R8 was revealed as a concept back in 2003, finally came out in 2008, and was discontinued in 2015.
This second generation has only been around for barely 3 years (released as a 2016 M.Y.) and has already received a full face-lift (which is something the first generation (which aside from minor updates to the shape of the headlights LED’s) never underwent).

If this is a sneak peak, by only concern is how long will the wait be until we receive it?

    • Dude

It is a little weird. But maybe they’re trying to be more innovative and unpredictable. Or maybe they want to recreate the R8’s incredible halo effect with a new model. VW probably needs it after dieselgate.

The Audi Sport e-tron Vision Gran Turismo, the Audi e-tron PB18 concept and now that RSQ e-tron…
This is clearly the next Audi Sport supercar that will replace the R8, I guess that it’s name will be RSQ, Q because of quattro of course. That might be confusing because if you add a number like RS Q8 this is the RS version of the Q8.

    RSQ (here in e-tron) + Will Smith = I Robot in 2004

Glad I’m not the only one making the connection that seems apparent. Is Audi just going to reserve the RSQ models for Will, or is it only futuristic movies?
