The time to find out which one out of the Honda Civic Type R, Hyundai i30N and Renault Megane RS is the quickest accelerating hot hatch has arrived, courtesy of Top Gear.

The three hot hatches represent the best of the FWD breed, with the Civic Type R being the most powerful and lightest out of the three. Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 315hp (320PS) and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of torque, paired to six-speed manual transmission. Honda claims a 0-62mph (100km/h) in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 169mph (272km/h).

Next up we have the Hyundai i30N, the first proper hot hatch of the Korean carmaker. The hot i30 is also powered by a 2.0-liter turbo but makes slightly less power, at 271hp (275PS) and 260lb-ft (353Nm) in its more powerful Performance version. 0-62mph (100km/h) comes in 6.1 seconds while top speed is 155mph (250km/h).

Last, but not least, we have the newest member of the hot hatch segment, the Renault Megane RS. Once the undisputed king of the class, the new Megane RS is using a 1.8-liter turbo four-cylinder with 276hp (280PS) and 288lb-ft (390Nm) of torque. The French hot hatch is capable of a 0-62mph (100km/h) in 5.8 seconds and can do 158mph (255km/h) flat out.

Which one out of the three crossed the finish line first? Well, what do you think?
