The Dodge Challenger has currently on offer one of the most extravagant lineups in the performance world, featuring V8 models like the R/T Scat Pack, the Hellcat, the Hellcat widebody, the now-out-of-production Demon and the more recent Hellcat Redeye.

And we call the Challenger lineup extravagant because out of the models we mentioned above, the least powerful R/T Scat Pack offers 485hp out of its naturally aspirated Hemi V8. Dodge is currently shoveling horsepower at its customers and we can’t help but approve.

Apparently Dodge thought that the Demon left a power vacuum behind it when it went out of production and the solution was to introduce the Redeye; its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 offers 797hp (808PS) and 707lb-ft of torque.

Dodge says that the Redeye is capable of running the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds at 131mph (210km/h), with 0-60mph coming in 3.4 seconds. Top speed is 203mph (326km/h).

The engine is basically the same unit with the Demon, featuring a 2.7-liter supercharger, stronger connecting rods and pistons, a high-speed valve train, as well as an uprated fuel injection system and better lubrication.

This doesn’t mean that the Challenger will suddenly start chasing GT3s around the track but you have to admit, having so much power under your right foot is pure joy.

Jay Leno shows us around the crazy Challenger Hellcat Redeye and fills our ears with angry supercharger whining on the video that follows.
