Chinese upstart Lynk & Co claims that it has become “the world’s fastest-growing brand” after reporting that, last year, it sold 120,414 vehicles in its home country.

Compared to established automakers that may not sound like much, but for a company that didn’t even exist three years ago, it’s quite impressive. Lynk & Co also opened a remarkable 221 retail shops across China.

What’s also worth noting about the Chinese company’s first full year of sales is that it has a very limited range, as the only models it currently produces and sells are the 01 SUV and 02 crossover. Future vehicles like the 03 sedan, 04 hatchback, and 01 SUV Coupe are all on the horizon and will help boost the automaker’s sales even further.

Geely appears to have created its next automotive juggernaut

Lynk & Co is also planning a significant worldwide expansion, which will see launch in Europe in 2020, with stores initially opening in Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Stockholm, London and Barcelona. The company will then enter the U.S. market, the second largest in the world.

“Three years ago Lynk & Co started off as just an idea founded on principles unheard of within the industry. These sales numbers for a totally new brand are exceptional and proof that the focus on a simple experience from start to finish for young urbanites is working,” chief executive Alain Visser said.

“Today we are seeing step-by-step that our mobility offering is truly disrupting the car industry from within. We are proud at the speed of our growth so far and excited by our launch into Europe, the journey is well underway. So continue to expect the unexpected as we are picking up the speed.”
