APR Pumps Up Audi R8 V10 And Lamborghini Huracan By 102 HP

Alabama-based tuner APR has unveiled its new APR Plus and Stage 1 ECU upgrades for the VW Group’s 5.2-liter FSI V10, which means they’re compatible with models such as the Audi R8 V10, V10 Plus and RWS, as well as the Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 and LP610-4.

APR’s Stage 1 ECU upgrade was designed to offer more horsepower and torque without impacting driveability, whereas APR Plus offers a limited powertrain warranty on all APR Stage 1-upgraded vehicles running on 95 RON fuel.

By installing the Stage 1 ECU upgrades to the 5.2-liter V10 engine, you will see an overall performance increase of 104 HP and 64 lb-ft (86 Nm) of torque.

Other improvements include support for left foot braking, speed limiter removal, a raised 9,000 rpm rev limiter, fully adjusted thermal management, optimized throttle, intake and exhaust flaps, lambda control, port/DI splitting, cam phasing, more aggressive ignition timing and an update to the factory power and torque gauges.

The Stage 1 upgrade also allows for on-demand ECU program switching (up to four modes), which includes a reduced-speed valet mode and quiet cold starting. Moreover, it allows the engine to run on 91 AKI (95 RON) and 93 AKI (98 RON) gasoline and E60-E85 ethanol fuel.

Unfortunately, no straight line performance figures were released, although we can imagine that those 100 extra horses will make the already very fast R8 and Huracan a little bit livelier.

Personally, I find the raised 9,000 rpm rev limiter to be more significant than the 102 hp increase with the tune. With the V10 already sounding good in stock form, just imagine how much more phenomenal it will sound

    APR is junk.

Pretty good gains for a tune..

That R8, in that grey color…wow, just about perfect to my eyes. Even after all these years without a major overhaul, its still such a gorgeous shape. Add in a high revving V10 and I’m about ready to sell the house and the kids.
