Audi’s Super Bowl Ad Goes From Almost Choking To Death, To Visions, And e-tron GT

Audi‘s Super Bowl LIII ad shows us one man’s vision of a future where the e-tron GT Concept is a dream car.

The action kicks off with the man walking through “an ethereal field” like something out of Interstellar. He soon arrives at a rustic house where he is greeted by his late grandfather, who invites him to a garage which houses the e-tron GT Concept. Fortunately for him, that’s where his “vision” stops.

We say fortunately because, as it turns out, the man had actually passed out after choking on a cashew nut while working in his cubicle, and the only reason he woke up was because one of his coworkers applied the Heimlich maneuver and saved his life.

At that point, the look of disappointment on the man’s face may not be very realistic (EV sports car or not, no one prefers seeing visions while going up to the Spirit in the Sky to being alive), but it does kind of get Audi’s message across.

“The biggest night in football offers a national platform to share our commitment to electrification while showcasing the future of electric performance with the Audi e-tron GT concept, which Audi anticipates going into production in two years. Discerning viewers will also notice a cameo by the e-tron SUV, which is scheduled to hit U.S. showrooms in the 2nd quarter of this year,” said Audi of America marketing VP, Loren Angelo.

The ad concludes with a message: “A thrilling future awaits. On Earth. One third of all new Audi models will be electrified by 2025.”

This weekend’s Super Bowl will see the New England Patriots take on the Los Angeles Rams.
