Kia’s New Electric Concept Promises Futuristic Looks And Lots Of Performance

The XCeed crossover won’t be Kia’s only world debut at the Geneva Motor Show; the Korean automaker will also display a new all-electric concept car, which it has just teased for the first time with a single image.

Styled “to make the heart beat that bit faster,” according to the press blurb, the as yet unnamed study is said to embody Kia’s emotional approach to electrification.

The concept car has been designed at the automaker’s European design center in Frankfurt and is a “visual embodiment of the company’s desire to move forward in the exciting world of electrification”.

In the only teaser image released so far, we can see the front end of the vehicle that features a unique light signature shaped like eyeglasses. The LED strip surrounds two horizontal LED units that are part of the headlights, with the Kia logo also illuminated.

Other design highlights include the sculpted bonnet, the broad wheel arches, and the tiny, bug antenna-like video cameras replacing the rearview mirrors.

“Automotive design is about capturing the heart and making it beat that bit faster for that bit longer – and we believe that there’s absolutely no reason why that should change simply because the car is electric,” Gregory Guillaume, Vice President of Design for Kia Motors Europe, said.

We couldn’t agree more ,but the concept also promises performance to back the aggressive looks. Guillaume also says the car will make “the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when you drive it.” Kia has definitely got us interested so stay tuned for more details as we get them.

Is THAT a new Logo?!?!? oh, Oh Kia…. What are you doing to me.

In all seriousness that seems to be a new logo (redesign font and characters). I really like it as it seems more upscale. I’m looking forward to seeing more.

It continues a trend that it highlighted on the Telluride, and that is the move away from skinny headlamps back towards large ones. Can’t wait to see it.

It looks like a futuristic take on like a sixties/seventies Italian car. It’s also a nice take on the tigershark grille. I am intrigued.

    New logo?

I remember when Kia revealed the GT Concept in 2011. It didn’t immediately catch my attention, but then came a six year period of rumors, announcements of Kia’s intent to produce it, and spy shots that ended when I purchased a Stinger last year.

Looks like that cycle might begin again…

This looks amazing. Can’t wait to see the whole thing.

  • Galaxium

Interesting logo. I thought it sorta looked uneven at first, but now I really like it. Looks more upscale.

    • Bill Nguyen

I know someone who won’t even look at a Kia because their logo is “lame”. Maybe this will help win over weirdos like that!

    Love the new Logo!
