How Hennessey’s 600HP Navigator Stacks Up Against The Stock SUV

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out which of these two Lincoln SUVs is faster: it goes without saying that, in a straight line, Hennessey’s tuned Navigator beats a bone-stock example.

What Hennessey wanted to highlight, though, is the difference an extra 150 horsepower makes. So, if you thought that the stock item’s 450 HP is more than enough, you might change your mind if you see what the 600 HP one can do.

The extra oomph squeezed from the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which is the sole engine choice for the fourth-gen Navigator, has added lots of performance. And there’s a huge gap between the two, as the Texas tuner demonstrates in the video shot at the Pennzoil Proving Grounds.

In order to get more power than a Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4, Hennessey fitted a high-flow induction system, larger intercooler with blow-off valve and stainless steel exhaust system. They then reprogrammed the software, and the full 600 HP monty is available.

The company claims that with these upgrades, the Navigator will sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.8 seconds and run the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds, at 107 mph (172 km/h). Quite nifty for a vehicle with a curb weight of 5,685 lbs (2,579 kg).

Hennessey’s work for the Navigator also include a pair of Brembo disc brakes and a lower ride height, whereas the new forged monoblock alloy wheels complete the visual transformation.

It’s quicker. But it is really THAT much quicker? Isn’t that the ‘new car sticker’ on the window of the stock Navigator? Are they racing a brand-new NOT yet ‘broken in’ Lincoln against what I would imagine is a very well ‘broken in’ not-so-stock version? If so… how fair is that? That all said… the stock is quick enough for me.

All true. But when one can afford one of these beasts, might as well get it upgraded. This package looks good.
