Bentley Continental GT Number 9 By Mulliner Pays Tribute To ‘Blower’ Le Mans Racer

Following a not-so-revealing teaser, the new Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner has made its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The new special edition of the Continental GT will be handcrafted by Mulliner in just 100 copies, with the specification inspired by the brand’s motorsport heritage and the Number 9 badging honoring the historic ‘Blower’ Bentley Le Mans race car.

Each of the 100 examples of the Conti GT Number 9 Edition will actually feature a wood insert from the seat of the actual Le Mans race car, removed during a “sympathetic” renovation, on their special interior. The piece is set in resin and positioned in the middle of the center dial of the rotating display.

Customers will get to choose between Cumbrian Green or Beluga heritage hides that feature increased gloss levels to the seats, inner door panels and elsewhere. The center console features a special aluminum ‘Engine Spin’ trim that’s was a popular finish for racing car in the 1920s and 1930s as it limited the reflection of the light. In addition, there’s an exclusive British Jaeger clock face inspired by the original No.9 Blower’s dials and 18K gold plated organ stops for the air vents.

The exterior of the new Bentley Continental GT Number 9 edition can be finished in either Viridian Green or Beluga black exterior paint finish and features lots of No.9 badging and a matching front grille graphic. A set of 21-inch 10-spoke wheels, along with a carbon body kit complete the differences from the outside.

The powertrain remains the same with the rest of the Continental GT models, meaning a twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 TSI engine with 626hp and 664lb-ft of peak torque. 0-60mph comes in 3.6 seconds and the top speed stands at 207mph (333km/h).

I love the “9” on the grille. And it’s nice to see Bentley finally start reaching back into its racing history and bringing that forward into its current cars. Now it just needs United Kingdom flags on each flank.

      • Knotmyrealname

You need to look closer. It’s adjacent to the ‘9’.

        • Bo Hanan

I saw that. But I prefer it in the red-white-blue colors, ma’am.

            Enough with the compliments already.

    I love the interior/exterior color.

So you’re paying extra for some ugly spray paint and some old wood?

  • Tumbi Mtika

Really cool. BRG is always appreciated.

  • FlameWater

Wouldn’t mind a 1:24 scale model of this

  • Six Thousand Times

That green leather is kind of a gas and I like the engine-turned center stack.

  • Blade t

    Looks good..

  • TheBelltower

The rotating chunk of wood is a bit hokey, but this thing is absolutely stunning. Emerald colors really work on this car.

  • ErnieB

Wow.. that color is just sick., I can do without the 9.. but Bentley nailed it with this new GT.. Mulliner kept it classy though ..

  • exeptor

The color in the life photos is mad, but it looks totally different than the one in the press photos. It has to the lights in Palexpo – this year there is so much reflection, especially on the darker cars (the one-off Bugatti), that it makes hard to get a good impression of the cars. Could be specific for Carscoops, but I think that I saw the same somewhere else too.
