We can totally understand the hype behind some six-wheeled vehicles, such as the Mercedes-AMG G63 6×6, Hennessey VelociRaptor and Kahn Flying Huntsman, but why would anyone turn an old Renault Clio into a six-wheeled pickup?

The people behind this oddball project have spent countless hours making it look legit. It features a front bulbar with a winch and additional lights, more lights on the roof, a closed bed and a towing hook. You’ll also notice the Pininfarina logos on the B pillars, but the famed Italian coachbuilder has nothing to do with this car.

Now, despite looking ready to venture into the words and come back with firewood, this Clio Mk2 won’t do so, unless the road is friendly to the average subcompact hatchbacks and sedans. That’s because despite having an extra axle and some gear usually found on proper off-roaders to improve their arduous terrain-conquering abilities, it’s still front-wheel drive.

It didn’t need much more to attend the Winchester Auto Barn in the UK last month, as that’s where it was spotted sitting alongside a variety of other vehicles from different eras. From the all-new Porsche 911 to the classic Aston Martins and several custom projects, the video shows them all.

The six-wheeled Clio can be seen starting from the 6:35 mark for about one minute, and then makes another brief appearance as it was leaving the event, at 13:16.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to hit that play button again, and you should do the same.
