Middle East-Bound 2019 Silverado RST And Trail Boss Come As Regular Cabs

Chevrolet has brought the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 to the Middle East and it has introduced two trims that are exclusive to the region.

Unlike the U.S., where the the RST and Trail Boss trims for the 2019 Silverado are only available for the Crew Cab and Double Cab body versions, in Middle East markets they will be offered in Regular Can configurations starting this suammer.

Besides this difference, the Middle East’s Silverado RST and Trail Boss models feature the same upgrades as their U.S. counterparts. While the RST is a sporty-themed truck, the Trail Boss is enhanced so as to go off the beaten track courtesy of the Z71 Off-Road package, a 2-inch factory suspension lift and Autotrack 2-speed transfer case.

In the Middle East, the 2019 Silverado 1500 will offer five engine and transmission choices across the range, including a 2.7-liter turbo-four as well 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s with Dynamic Fuel Management and start/stop technology for improved fuel economy, and a new Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission for the 6.2.

“The Chevrolet Silverado is a regional icon and the 2019 line-up brings further improvements to what is one of the most consummate full-size pickup trucks on the market today,” said Ahmed Soudodi, Head of Brand at Chevrolet Middle East and Africa. “Our year-on-year success is in no small part due to our loyal and growing regional customer base which we keep at the heart of our business, and so being able to offer to them through the Silverado Trail Boss and RST trims exclusively available for the Middle East makes us very excited,” the executive added.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is now available to order with a starting price of AED 106,800 ($29,100 at current exchange rates) in the United Arab Emirates for the 2WD Work Truck.

I wonder if the regular cab will be available in the U.S.? American love affair for 4 doors pretty much killed the regular cab market here.

regular cab? yes. but not regular cab short (6.5′) bed.

Well here we go again: somewhere else in the world gets the coolest cars and trucks while the US does not. Can you imagine a regular cab, 6.2, 10 speed truck with a really nice interior? Of course we can, but it ain’t coming here! And GM is not the only culprit doing it; BMW, Ford and many others put their coolest models everywhere but here. There madness in the executive suites of America.

Well, at least now with the Euro emissions regs requiring exhaust filters for gasoline, we finally get more HP in the US instead of the other way around. For example, the new BMW Z4 3.0t makes 382 HP here, but only 335 HP there.

Not that I’m in the market for this truck (I prefer trucks that don’t look this ugly) but the very idea that I can’t buy a regular cab except for the poverty spec base trim would really put me off buying a Silverado.

I believe GM officially builds the world nastiest interiors using melted down plastic happy meal toys.
