New Porsche Cayenne Coupe Makes Its Public Debut

Porsche’s newest and sleekest SUV, the Cayenne Coupe, is on display in China at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, where it will remain until April 25.

It comes with plenty of standard features, including a 2.16-square-meter (23.25 sq-ft) panoramic fixed glass roof. Inside, it has room for up to 5 adults, but clients can order it in the four-seat configuration as well, at no extra cost. The contoured carbon roof and three lightweight sport packages are also available, among many other features.

At launch, the Cayenne Coupe is available with two engines: the 3.0-liter V6 with 335 hp (340 PS / 250 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque, and the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, rated at 542 hp (550 PS / 404 kW) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque in the Turbo model. The latter will get to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.7 seconds and has a 178 mph (286 km/h) top speed, while the former needs 5.7 seconds (5.6 sec with the lightweight sport packages) for and tops out at 151 mph (243 km/h).

“With the Cayenne Coupe, we’ve brought along a special version of our Chinese Porsche customers’ favorite model”, said Chairman of the Executive Board, Oliver Blume. “We are expanding the Cayenne family with a vehicle demonstrating a very strong character of its own. And as in every other segment in which we compete, we also want the Coupe to be the sportiest option in its class. That’s why we continue to develop our product range in a focused way, in order to give our customers what they want and gain new ones – especially here in China, our biggest individual market.”

Last year, Porsche sold more than 31,000 units of the Cayenne in China alone. This represented a 19 percent increase compared to 2017, and with the new Cayenne Coupe out, the automaker expects to reach new heights this year.

You could ask a lot of car manufacturers the same question. Tries to look a little bit sporty = yes it’s a (insert name here) coupe.

      • KidRed

Coupe as in shape, not number of doors.

no clue, it is more like a hatchback. none of it makes sense.

Names are not important. We stick to names to much.

Like everything else with the same configuration pretending to be coupe (… or how they call it a four door coupe). Marketing crap plus the internal “conflict” in buyers who want to have something which looks better (for me the classic coupe shapes are the best looking cars) than the average sedan but to keep the practicality (obviously not the strongest point of buying an actual coupe).

    Yet no 928

Why get this over the regular Cayenne? Also, for anything this expensive, the base model should do 0-60mph in 5 seconds or less.
