Woman Crashes Lexus Through Cables And Gets Stuck Dangling Over Parking Garage

A woman got herself into a scary situation last week when her Lexus NX crossover crashed through steel retaining cables in a Miami Springs parking garage.

In a strange twist of fate, the crossover’s rear end rose up and got stuck on the concrete ceiling. This prevented the NX from plummeting to the ground, but it meant the women was stuck dangling over the edge of the parking structure.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, 11 units responded to the scene including a technical rescue team. They worked to secure and stabilize the vehicle to prevent it from falling from the second story of the parking garage.

Once the vehicle was secure, a firefighter opened a rear passenger door of the NX and carefully climbed inside. He then assisted the woman out of the vehicle and photos show she was incredibly thankful as she hugged at least one of the fire fighters.

The woman wasn’t hurt and WSVN reports the entire incident only lasted about an hour. Luck certainly played a factor in the incident and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Danny Cardeso told the station, “The vehicle was wedged by just a few inches of metal on the hatchback up top. That’s the only thing that really was keeping it from falling.”

‪As for the crossover, it was eventually retrieved. There’s no word on its condition, but photos and videos suggest it only received minor damage. Besides the obvious damage to the roof and tailgate, fire fighters knocked out the rear quarter windows as part of their effort to secure the vehicle. Other than that, the crossover doesn’t look that bad.

The good news: you won’t be able to tell the front end was damaged. Lexuses (Lexi?) look pre-crashed right off the production line.

I like that she’s still clutching the steering wheel in that one photo. That might have been useful an hour or so before this picture was taken.
