Skoda continues to tease its facelifted Superb, with only a few days remaining until the model’s debut in Bratislava on May 23.

This latest teaser focuses on the refreshed Superb’s lighting system, and in particular the full LED Matrix headlights and dynamic lighting functions.

The facelifted Superb is the first production Skoda to feature these tech, along with more safety and comfort equipment. The latest teaser video focuses on the new full-LED Matrix headlights, the redesigned LED fog lights, and the full LED tail lights with dynamic indicators.

Skoda has also released a teaser sketch that reveals the design of the headlights which consist of an LED module for the dipped and high beam, three further LED high beam segments, and a narrow strip of LEDs for the indicators, daytime running lights and position light.

Above them are fine needle-like LED structures which are part of the new animated Coming/Leaving Home function. Finally, the headlights also feature “Skoda Crystal Lighting” lettering in their housings.

The video shows the new full-LED Matrix headlights and the Coming/Leaving Home animation in action. It also showcases the redesigned LED fog lights and the full LED taillights. For the first time, the taillamps come with dynamic indicators that illuminate in an outward sweeping motion. Skoda says the dynamic indicators are more noticeable for other road users, thereby increasing road safety.

According to the automaker, the refreshed version of its flagship model features “the brand’s latest innovations in terms of safety, driving comfort, performance and eco-friendliness.”

The world premiere of the facelifted Superb will take place in nine days at the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, where Skoda is the main sponsor.
