The 2008 CLK 63 AMG Black Series is one of the craziest AMG vehicles ever produced, and one example is currently up for auction on Bring A Trailer.

Mercedes-Benz only ever built 500 examples of the CLK 63 AMG Black Series and one of them was famously owned by none other than Jeremy Clarkson. Of the 500 units built, 350 came to the United States and the listing of this car asserts that only 40 examples painted white were imported to the U.S.

Sitting at the heart of the Black Series is a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 delivering 500 hp at 7000 rpm and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque at 5250 rpm, good enough for 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in roughly four seconds, while the top speed was electronically limited to 186 mph (300 km/h). Those are some impressive numbers, especially when you consider the car’s penchant for burning through rear tires at a frightening pace.

The car was recently inspected by Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills and has 48,546 miles (78,127 km) on the clock. The exterior includes bodywork unique to the CLK 63 AMG range, including 3-inch wider front and rear tracks. Additionally, the car sits on a set of 19-inch polished wheels with new Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 tires measuring 265/30 at the front and 285/30 at the rear. This car also includes a clear 3M paint protection film over the front end and rear fender flares.

The highest bid, at the time of writing, was $52,000, with just over half a day left in the auction.
