Shelby and Hertz have a long history of high-performance Mustangs, but they’re not the only game in town as SIXT Rent A Car has commissioned a fleet of special Shelby GT-S models.

Dressed in an orange and black livery that draws inspiration from SIXT’s logo, the Shelby GT-S has been equipped with an aggressive front fascia and a “deep draw” ventilated hood. The Mustang also features sporty side skirts, a stripe package and a rear spoiler. Other highlights include “SIXT Supercharged” badging and unique 20-inch wheels that are wrapped in Shelby X-Comp tires.

Moving into the cabin, drivers will find two-tone leather seats and illuminated “Shelby” door sill plates. The model also has an individually numbered dash plaque and embroidered floor mats.

A supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine resides under the hood and produces more than 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS). It is connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels.

Besides the supercharged engine, the Shelby GT-S has been equipped with Brembo brakes and a cat-back exhaust. The model also has a retuned suspension which uses springs and sway bars from Ford Performance.

20 cars are slated to be built and they will be available this summer at select SIXT Rent A Car locations in Southern California, Southern Florida and Las Vegas. While the company isn’t a household name, SIXT has 55 locations in the United States including 20 at major airports.

Once the models have completed their rental car duty, they will be available for purchase. There’s no word on how much they’ll cost, but Shelby noted they can be brought back to the factory for “further enhancements.”
