Kia Releases Sketches Of New Small SUV Targeted At Millenials

Kia has released two official sketches of an all-new small SUV that will be unveiled some time in the coming months.

The South Korean car manufacturer says the vehicle will feature a design inspired by the 2019 Kia SP Signature Concept and target “the unique preferences and needs of the millennial generation.”

The sketches show that it will look very similar to the SP Signature Concept which premiered in India a couple of months ago. The front, for example, will include a pair of sharp headlights which flow seamlessly into a large grille. Additionally, there are vertical lights incorporated into the lower portion of the bumper.

Spin around to the rear of the new SUV and you will notice a rugged bumper as well as a pair of aggressive tailpipes, sharp LED taillights and red reflectors.

“We have created a car which stands out everywhere, from the city to the countryside. Its robust yet sporty design will be matched by a wide range of features and technologies that are universally suited to younger buyers in markets around the world. Our new small SUV is a proposition that no other car in its class will match,” head of styling at Kia Motors Corporation, Byung Chul Juh, said about the vehicle.

Limited details about the new small SUV are known, but it won’t be quite as small as the new Hyundai Venue. Kia says sales of the vehicle will commence in Korea in the second half of 2019 before the vehicle finds its way to other regions around the world.

  • EXCEPT FOR WEARING BROWN SHOES WITH A SUIT HOW DO MILLENNIAL’S NEEDS DIFFER FROM EVERYONE ELSE?

    • Stephen G

      They don’t. It’s just a marketing ploy.

  • Matt

I can’t keep up with Hyundai and Kia’s SUV offerings. It seems like every week they’re releasing a new model in this segment.

    • JRP

      Gives more variety.

The Venue and Soul are alike.
China has a small Kia SUV called the KX3 that is around the size of a Soul (because it isn’t sold there)
The Kona and Stonic are alike.
      The Creta is India’s pacifier.
The ix35 is China’s smaller Terracan thing.
Kia offers multiple outdated Sportages in China because they like to choose.
The Tucson and Sportage are alike.
      The new Mohave is coming.
The Santa Fe is smaller than the Sorento.
The KX7 is another Kia SUV for China which is essentially a sharper Sorento.
The Palisade and Telluride are alike.

This SUV is most likely the new Sportage.

      • bd0007

Soul is on a larger platform than the Venue
Not a new Mohave but a heavily refreshed (2nd facelift) that likely won’t make it here.
Santa Fe is now basically the same size as the Sorento (the diff. is about the same as btwn the Palisade and Telluride).
This (Tusker) will slot underneath the SPortage and be our substitute for the Stonic.

This one is exclusively for the millennial crowd! I just hope nobody over 45 buys this car like they did with the Sonic brand. Toyota had to discontinue the brand because more older people were buy the models then the 18-35 age group.

    • McFly

Just don’t forget that millennials will start becoming 45 in just a few years. 🙂
The oldest ones are like 38 now.

  • Bash

Looks like an Alfa from the back.
    Those sketches looks great.

  • Javokhir_Sam

    Nice Skoda design

    • Nefiu Ci

Skoda copied Schreyer’s design sicne 2010 but nice try, moron

      • Javokhir_Sam

Maybe in 2010 Skoda copied from KIA but now it is otherwise in this sketch. Just look at the air intakes below headlights. Also a nice try, moron!

        • Nefiu Ci

Again for users like you, where researching and using complexe things may be too hard:

KIA OPTIMA 2010 was the pionieer of those consequent lines

          what happened since then ?

          VW Jetta – 2011
          Skoda Octavia – 2012
          Skoda Rapid – 2012

          Skoda Superb – 2015
          Skoda Kodiaq – 2016

just compare the Face of the 2011 Optima and the skoda kodiaq

but people like you only see what they wanna see and live through their hate, right?

          • Javokhir_Sam

I don’t see any resemblance between 2010 Kia Optima and VW Jetta or any other car you listed above. Maybe coz I don’t work for Kia or get paid by them for PR.

      • Cool guy

Schreyer does not design! It was the work of designers under him who move around pretty often! Possibly between VW, Skoda and Kia. Regardless, everything is TURD!!!!!!

    • bd0007

Basically old Sorento and Sportage front clip.

  • Jawohl

And they name it after an elephant. Lol. Only Kia would do that.

  • ThatGuy

Def wont look close to the sketch at all. Kia will make sure it is bland

  • charlotteharry57

This is a bit confusing as Kia decided not to tread on its Soul by bringing the Kona-clone Stonic to the US. I could see a Venue-clone for Kia, but this says it’ll be bigger. Anyone else coming to the conclusion that H-K have little idea what they’re doing these days? Autotrader is having fits keeping up with H-K changes (particularly trim levels) because, yes, they happen faster than most folks change their underwear.

    • bd0007

This is basically our substitute for the Stonic.

Stonic was not appropriate for the US due to cost (built in Europe) and powertrain options.

  • JRP

    New Sportage?

    • bd0007

      Slots underneath.

  • Javokhir_Sam

    Very heartbreaking story. Kiaboy

    • Nefiu Ci

must hurt to be you, feel sorry for your parents and environment with what ignorant arrogant and learnresistant bug they have to deal with.

      • Javokhir_Sam

Live your life kiddo! Take it easy! Just don’t think you are smarter than anyone and do not try to teach someone a lesson. Whatever you say is your opinion and your opinion is what I never give a brass fart about.
