If it’s one thing that ABT Sportsline has taught us over the years is that they can spruce up pretty much any model from the VW Group.

Their first official encounter with the Italian super SUV has allowed ABT to develop a new engine control unit that lifts the output to 710 PS (700 hp / 522 kW) and 910 Nm (671 lb-ft) of torque, dropping the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time by two tenths, to 3.4 seconds.

By comparison, in stock form the 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 produces 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. This, along with every other clever feature that has went into it, allows the Urus to max out at an amazing 305 km/h (190 mph).

ABT, though, compared it to a true Lamborghini icon from the past: the Countach LP400S, whose 3,929 cc V12 engine kicked out 375 horsepower. This, aside from the tuner’s handicraft, proves ujust how far the automotive industry has come in recent years. Makes you wonder what we’ll see in the future, too, given that we currently have SUVs that are nearly as fast as modern-day supercars.

Usually, ABT’s work includes a bunch of visual mods, like the subtle exterior add-ons, special door sills and a few other things added inside. However, they have only concentrated their efforts on making the Urus more powerful, in this case, making sure that it’s reliable, so there’s nothing that gives out its extra oomph.
