The ‘Challenger’ is a new high-spec version of the Mitsubishi L200 Series 5 pick-up truck, and is available to order now starting from £27,705 ($35,120) for the manual version, and £29,105 ($36,894) for the automatic. It is based on the L200 Warrior and you can get it in one of three colors (white, grey and black).

Sales for this special edition truck will continue in the UK, despite the new L200 Series 6 model hitting the market this autumn.

Making a statement

The new Mitsubishi L200 Challenger boasts black 17-inch alloy wheels and bespoke black detailing on the front grille, front bumper, fog lamp surrounds, wheel arch extensions, side steps, door mirrors, door handles and the rear bumper.

Inside, there’s matching black leather, an electric driver’s seat, heated front seats, a 7-inch Smartphone Link Display Audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, DAB digital radio and an integrated reversing camera.

Meanwhile, all the following features come as standard: keyless operation, bi-xenon headlights, LED DRLs, dual zone climate control and automatic windscreen wipers. Same goes for safety systems such as lane departure warning, hill start assist and trailer stability assistance.

As for what it can do on the road, the L200 Challenger comes with the automaker’s Super-Select 4WD system, allowing you to shift between 2WD and 4WD at speeds of up to 62 mph (100 km/h) using a selector switch. Power comes from a 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine, good for 180 PS (178 HP) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque.

The Mitsubishi L200 Challenger is said to be able to tow up to 3.5 tonnes (7,716 lbs) and has a payload capacity of one tonne (2,204 lbs).
