Detroit has a long history of illegal street racing, but what happened recently on the John C. Lodge Freeway has sparked outrage.

In clips that went viral over the weekend, a number of Dodge Chargers can be seen blocking the freeway so other can perform donuts on the heavily traveled road. The cars take turns as several people exit their vehicles to cheer them on.

The freeway appears to have been blocked for several minutes and unsurprisingly a number of motorists apparently called 911. The clip end as people flee the scene before police arrive.

The incident has police upset and determined to catch those responsible. On Saturday, the department took to Twitter to reveal a 25-year old man was arrested for reckless driving in his Dodge Charger. At the time, police chief James Craig said “We are not going to tolerate this blatant disregard for public safety in our city.”

Craig followed up today with a press conference where said he loves muscle cars, but noted their is a safe and sane way to appreciate them. Craig went on to say the man who was arrested over the weekend was caught, in part, thanks to his distinctive green Charger SRT Hellcat. The man doesn’t live in the city of Detroit and officials threw the book at him as cited for not having a driver’s license as well as minor things such as noise complaints and having illegally tinted windows.

Craig added that police have identified six other vehicles involved in the shutdown of the Lodge. The investigation is ongoing, but the department is committed to arresting those involved and potentially seizing their vehicles.
