This Is The Chevrolet C8 Corvette Before You’re Meant To See It

Chevrolet will unveil the long-awaited C8 Corvette in just a couple of hours but three images showing the finished product have emerged online.

These images, shared across Instagram, depict the new Corvette in a bright shade of red and come shortly after an image of the mid-engined supercar’s interior surfaced. While it is hard to determine if the images are legitimate or if they are just low-resolution renderings, the car depicted looks virtually identical to what past renderings of the car have shown.

Unsurprisingly, the C8 Corvette has an exterior design radically different than all Corvettes to come before it. Up front, there are a pair of sharp headlights with LED daytime running lights. The bright red example pictured also includes a set of black wheels with black spokes and silver rims. Other black exterior accents include the front splitter, side skirts, side air intakes, and the rear wing.

Speaking of the rear wing, this vehicle features the intriguing design we’ve seen prototypes testing with on a number of occasions in recent months. Found directly below the wing are taillights similar to the Camaro, albeit sharper and more aggressive.

Beyond the vehicle’s design, we know that the C8 will be presented in entry-level Stingray guise. This model will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine pumping out between 480 hp and 500 hp. The car will be sold exclusively with a dual-clutch transmission sending power to the rear wheels.

Stay tuned to Carscoops in the come hours and days for more C8 Corvette news.

    Completely and utterly underwhelming

    • Jweisberg

I agree, the Z06 will look better.

  • Jweisberg

I like it but they could have done a better design in the rear.

    • Bo Hanan

And remove the cheap looking after-thought stingray logo. “I mean we get it already.”

  • Thetruthísntalwayspopular

Late to the party guys which is rather hilarious. Your coverage of this car has reached saturation levels yet when it actually launches , you’re behind everyone else lolol.

  • Zed68

    It’s… a cheap Ferrari.

I’d mentally prepared myself for the C8 to have hideous front and rear ends. It could have much better headlights and taillights, and that wing looks a bit less conspicuous in black, but is still ugly, but overall it looks better than I was expecting. Only about 90 minutes left to go, maybe a couple hours until we see it.

  • ejd1984

I get the feeling that it’s a fan guesstimate render.

    • Matt

      Nah it’s the real thing.

  • Mike anonymous

I’ve been Waiting About 9 Months to Say this,… But I darn near called it!.
(Minus the blacked out roof & the headlamps which were not equipped on the final product) was I not spot on?

    • Matt

I would never had guessed it would look identical to the camo-wrapped prototype, minus the camo wrap. That is a big shock to me.

    • Zandit75

Well, you missed the side scoops, but I think GM disguised them quite well.

    • Astonman

      You did good!

  • Mr. EP9

One thing you can say for certain, the McLaren GT looks nothing like this.

  • donald seymour

The most underwhelming thing to date.

  • Justin Spencer

I liked the Corvette better the way it was. Now it looks like it wants to be a Ferrari.

  • ErnieB

Wait. Hold up. Currently acting surprised.

  • Craig

So let’s all open our presents a week before Christmas! Talk about ruining all of the fun.

  • Paul

I sure hope the real thing looks better than that.

  • john1168

I still hate the rear spoiler/wing but the car looks fantastic. I read earlier it’s rumored to go 0-60 in under 3 seconds when properly equipped. We’ll see I guess

  • Six Thousand Times

Actually pretty good. ‘Vette styling cues on a mid-engined platform. Works for me.

  • SteersUright

Whew! Not as horrible as the renderings suggested. However, the back is still a total design disaster. Overall, though, it looks like a proper Corvette should – a cheaper, not so bad looking, pretty good performing, Ferrari knock-off. Jk :P. I’d still happily get one of these if the price is right. I say it again, who the hell doesn’t love the idea of an American V8, mod-engined, affordable supercar?

  • Stigasawuswrecks

Man I want this beast and I’m not even much of a Corvette fan.

Repair shop would be your future

  • DaruniaG

    Looks better than expected

  • MarketAndChurch

Some missed opportunities, but I don’t want to come off as an ingrate, so… I’m happy this thing exists and I can’t wait to see how people customize it. I especially want to see it in colors like White that can hide some of the excessive/hyper stylized design direction common to virtually every new Chevy over the past 2 years, to soften some of those edges or blur some of those creases.

  • NCC 1701-C Dodge Stealth R/T

    That’s it? Looks like a 20 year old Ferrari 360 Modena……

    • TRB0T0Y

I reckon that’d be a compliment, considering the current Battlestar Galactica Tupperware style they got goin’ now.
