2020 Ford Mustang High Performance Goes Down Under With 316 HP Four-Pot

The Mustang High Performance will be launched in Australia in February 2020 with a more powerful engine tuned by Ford Performance and a few other updates.

By using a larger 63 mm (2.5 in) twin-scroll turbocharger from the Focus RS, the 2.3-liter mill delivers 316 HP (321 PS) and 448 Nm (330 lb-ft) of torque, a 12 kW (16 PS / 16 hp) and 7 Nm (5 lb-ft) of torque improvement.

The ‘Stang also benefits from shorter gear ratios from the 2019MY in the six-speed manual and 10-speed automatic transmissions. All versions of the 2020 Mustang High Performance get thicker front and rear stabilizer bars, updated steering, Brembo brakes, a limited-slip rear differential, variable sports exhaust system and 19-inch wheels shod in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

316hp for a 4cyl? Not bad says I. It would be nice if Japanese companies such as Subaru and Nissan would wake the hell up and smell the competition. How old is that EJ engine?! VQ engines are nice, but damn, move on.

Just wears out the motor faster, more ecoboom than ever before IMO, I bought a 2015 EcoBoost and ditched it at 35k miles and bought a 2017 GT. and 2 years on my car is flawless. if I had the Ecoboost I am sure it would have died like so many I have seen – adding more HP just wears out that small engine

It’s funny, I read more problems about the new coyote 2018+. The ecoboom thing is really overblown. Most of the blown engines had aftermarket tunes and or driver error. It’s a pretty stout engine and doesn’t get enough credit.
