Chevrolet Seems To Be Developing Track Package For New C8 Corvette

Chevrolet confirmed that the C8 Corvette Stingray would be available with an optional Z51 Performance Package from launch and now it’s emerged that another mystery ‘track package’ has been developed.

While attending the global unveiling of the new ‘Vette in mid-July, Brink of Speed on YouTube had the opportunity to speak with the Performance Color and Trim Manager for the car, Brett Goliff.

The interview gets particularly interesting at just before the 8-minute mark when Goliff starts to discuss the Competition Seat available for the new Corvette Stingray. This seat will be available alongside two other seats and ordinarily, features a host of custom touches over the ‘regular’ seats, including Chevrolet’s ‘performance textile’ on the side bolsters to hold occupants in place.

At the new Corvette Stingray’s launch, the company displayed a Competition Seat bathed entirely in this performance textile. Goliff then goes on to reveal that this particular seat will be available for an upcoming track-focused variant of the car.

“This version [of the seat] is for our track car,” he says. “There is a special track version of the vehicle that you can get that comes, essentially, with more of a blacked-out package and comes with this entire Competition Seat with the performance textile fabric.”

Corvette Blogger believes the ‘track package’ briefly discussed by Goliff will be available alongside the Z51 Performance Package but it remains to be seen what other options it will come with alongside the full performance textile Competition Seats. Evidently, Chevrolet is very much focusing on offering the Corvette Stingray in as many derivatives as possible before ultimately turning its attention to even faster Z06 and ZR1 models.

To be fair, most of us already knew they’d be developing track packages and higher trim levels. In fact, I think most of use know the order in which the trim levels will release:

    Base(Z51) > Base Convertible(Z51) > Z06(aero) > Z06 Convertible > Grand Sport(Convertible) > ZR1(possibly ZORA)

Car is starting to grow on me. Surprisingly.
Why get a new nsx they can’t unload at $130k when this vette does it all at $80k.

    • Six_Tymes

      true, and good point

    • Porkopolis

It looks weird and mal-proportioned when viewed as a Corvette, but looks quite amazing when viewed as a mid-engine supercar. Our brains need time to adjust to the C8.

the 1000 horse power hybrid awd version will make the nsx look silly

  • Bash

    Umm. Is that,,, baby blue?

    • Bubba Fett

It’s white. It just looks blue under the lights.
But the available colors are nice:
      Black
      Arctic White
      Blade Silver Metallic
      Ceramic Matrix Grey Metallic
      Shadow Grey Metallic
      Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic
      Rapid Blue
      Accelerate Yellow
      Sebring Orange Tintcoat
      Torch Red
      Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat
      Zeus Bronze Metallic

so GM has been working on this mid-engine config since 2005-2013-2019, well worth the time and effort.

  • Six_Tymes

that baby blue in that picture looks really cool. and nice detail work on the seat designs.

    • Holmer_k

I do like that blue. But I didn’t see that color on the configurator they have on their site.

  • Mr. EP9

Isn’t the Z51 the track package or will GM surprise us?

  • SteersUright

I appreciate the number of colors on offer, but none of them are all that great. They should’ve contacted Audi’s paint people, they seem to come up with some unique and beautiful colors these days.
