Drako GTE Is A 1200 HP Electric Hyper Sedan That Promises Supercar-Like Handling

Following a teaser earlier this year, Drako Motors has unveiled their first car at The Quail.

Billed as the culmination of nearly a decade of work, the GTE is an ultra-luxury sedan that is based on the old Fisker Karma. Despite this, the model is not a copycat as it features a new front end with slender headlights, a carbon fiber hood and large air intakes.

The sides largely carry over, but now come with sportier side skirts and hidden door handles. Bigger changes can be found at the rear in the form of a massive diffuser and a small trunk with an integrated spoiler.

Drako only released a handful of interior pictures, where we can see that the four-seat cabin is clad in leather and Alcantara and features a touchscreen infotainment system and carbon fiber trim.

Power comes from a 90 kWh battery pack that feeds no less than four electric motors, which produce a combined output of 1,200 HP (895 kW / 1,217 PS) and 6,491 lb-ft (8,800 Nm) of torque. Drako didn’t mention the car’s range or 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time, but did say that the GTE has a top speed of 206 mph (332 km/h).

The company was also coy about recharging times, but confirmed the model has a 15 kW onboard charger and can also be use DC fast chargers with a capability of up to 150 kW.

Other notable features include an Öhlins suspension and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. There’s also a torque vectoring system that adjusts “positive and negative torque on each wheel over one thousand times per second”, something the company says helps give the GTE cornering precision unlike any supercar on the market. Which, frankly, is a very bold statement indeed.

While there’s still a lot to learn about it, Drako has announced that the GTE will go into production shortly. Each model carries a base price of $1.25 million (£1.02 million / £1.12 million at current rates) and the company only expects to build 25 units. Customers can already place their orders, with the first deliveries slated to begin next year.

Drako GTE was created to change the paradigm of driving. With a 1,200 HP quad motor architecture, GTE has unrivaled turning capability with maximum control and safety on every surface. #DrakoGTE #Drakomotors #Supercar #Electric

Why yes you are absolutely correct. They should have no trouble finding people gullible rich enough to buy this thing.

The 2008-2013 Fisker Karma had similar figures to this vehicle; 201 brake horsepower (204 PS) motors produce 1,300 newton metres (960 lbf⋅ft) of torque, giving it a ‘quoted’ horsepower of 403. But its’ top speed was LIMITED to 125 to save on range.
Drako didn’t mention the car’s range or 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time…” but the figures seem quite similar so far. Having actually driven the original Fisker karma, many people may not actually understand how great of a vehicle it actually was, given that; Karma Automotive will service and fix old Fiskers, as well as the fact that a used Fisker Karma may go for around $29k to $60k (for what is quite a stunning to this day), Buying a Used Karma does not seem to be a bad deal or investment (for a luxury (and now relatively affordable) plug-in hybrid).

Right now I am not seeing that big of a difference, but I suppose it is up to Drako to show the GTEs’ worth in the coming future.

Fisker, Bob Lutz’s VLF and now this company using the same body, sad, very sad.

Who wants to make a Fisker Karma with me?

If I had a nickel for every Karma-based vehicle out there, we’ve have enough capital to do so.

Imagine how little interior space there is now with those additional floor batteries!

Looks like a BRZ on the juice, that design is like a total rip off of the Toyota.
