New Mercedes-AMG A45, CLA 45 Set New Pricing Heights For Compact Cars

The wait is finally over and customers can go ahead and buy a new A45 or CLA 45 as Mercedes-AMG launching them in different markets, including Germany.

Pricing is out of reach for most of us, but those who can afford to spend a small fortune can place an order for the A45, which is available at €56,227.50 ($62,349), or the more agile A45 S from €61,820.50 ($68,551).

The sleeker looking CLA 45 begins at €60,095 ($66,638), while the S will set you back €65,688 ($72,840). Getting the same car as a Shooting Brake requires spending at least €60,690 ($67,298) for the 45 and €66,283 ($73,499) for the 45 S.

The “base” versions get a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 387 PS (382 hp / 285 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. The A45 S, CLA 45 S or CLA 45 S Shooting Brake, on the other hand, offer 421 PS (415 hp / 310 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft). All come coupled to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive with AMG Torque Control.

The S versions of the high-performance compact cars all have a 270 km/h (168 mph) top speed. The quickest of the bunch is the A45 S, which sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds, whereas The CLA 45 S in either four-door sedan or Shooting Brake form is a tenth of a second slower.

    Rather Have a corvette

Not in Europe. This car was made for European tastes, street size and taxes. Just remember tha in some countries the Mustang GT costs 90k, due to engine capacity and emissions. And with that money you can buy a Giulia Quadrifolio or with 70k, a M2 Competition.

      • ChicagoBlah

Is that a Giulia Quad that actually works or one that is dead on arrival?

        • DMJ

I would have to buy one just to check…but as far as I know they are reliable. But yes, I know about that famous one.
Well, but the 6.2L AMGs have engine head bolts made from crystal, the E60 M5 and M6 are cancers and no one makes jokes…

      • Some ol’ bloke

Yeah, But in Europe it doesn’t

You’re comparing a Corvette to a Hot Hatch!?

      • Some ol’ bloke

        I’m comparing the price

        • Christian Wimmer

I really don’t think a potential A45 AMG customer is going to cross-shop this car with a Corvette; and neither will the potential Corvette customer.

          • Some ol’ bloke

My Point is that If I had sixty thousand dollars to spend, I think a corvette would be a better choice

  • javier

i’ll take an gla45 s version without all the electro screens and infotainment bs for 60$ alex

    • Christian Wimmer

I own the new A250, the digital screens are actually rather awesome, especially the engine data at high speed! 😀

i’m sure they are great but i can’t afford them and the mbux etc and the amg engine, it’s moot though as i’m sure you can’t get one without the other

        • Christian Wimmer

          Javier,

In Europe you can get a basic “small screen” for the new A-Class, B-Class and CLA-Class. It comes with less features and capabilities (no Augmented Reality Navigation for example). I have the Widescreen digital display, which I think is a must. It’s also easy to use and quite logical. At first it seems daunting and confusing, but it’s really quite logical and well-designed. 🙂

At this point they are simply charging because they know they can

  • R55

Classic Ferrari F355 for example, is the same price or cheaper. Unreal, how blindsided do you have to be to do buy into this German Hot Hatch ecosystem?

  • MayTheBestCarWin05

wow. that’s pricey. but the specs seem worth it tho.

Hahahaha.. $65k+ for a goddamn 4-banger. Thanks but no thanks.
