A few weeks ago, we saw the Mercedes-AMG G63, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Bentley Bentayga Speed go head to head in a standstill drag race, as well as one in which they took off from a rolling start. Thanks to its 635 PS (626 HP), the Bentayga Speed came out on top in both instances.

What about a tug-of-war type of scenario, though? Here, weight, grip and torque play a major role, and the G63 looks really good on paper.

The big Merc weighs over 2.5 tonnes (5,500 lbs) and is powered by a twin turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that’s good for 585 PS (577 HP) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. Its first opponent, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, also packs a twin turbo 4.0-liter V8, but with 550 PS (542 HP) and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque. On the plus side, it is lighter than the G63.

It wouldn’t be a major spoiler to tell you that the Porsche couldn’t really offer the G63 much of a challenge, but the next contest was a lot more tense, not to mention close.

The Bentley Bentayga Speed is powered by a monstrous 6.0-liter twin turbo W12 with 635 PS (626 HP) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). While it doesn’t have a differential lock like the G63, it definitely packs more muscle, while weighing only slightly less than the German luxury off-roader.

This time, we won’t tell you who won, but there were several instances during the pull when the battle could have easily gone either way.
