The all-new Hyundai i10 has just been unveiled as the Frankfurt Auto Show gets ready to open its doors next week.

The latest i10 has been a long time coming and we’ve seen a number of prototypes testing in recent months. It will be developed and produced in Europe and has undergone a series of comprehensive interior and exterior modifications.

It is the dynamic new look of the i10 that immediately strikes you. Hyundai’s designers have lowered the roof by 20 mm (0.7-inches) and widened the car by 20 mm (0.7-inches), providing the small hatchback with a more pleasing shape. Additionally, the new Hyundai i10 sits on a set of newly-designed optional 16-inch alloy wheels.

Up front, there is a wide front grille that incorporates round LED daytime running lights. As for the sides, they are particularly muscular and match the front fascia perfectly. Most notable are the X-shaped C-pillars and contrasting wing mirrors. Ten exterior colors will be available; Dragon Red, Brass, Aqua Turquoise, Phantom Black, Polar White, Star Dust, Sleek Silver, Champion Blue, Tomato Red, and Slate Blue. Customers can also option a roof painted in either Black or Red to contrast the rest of the paintwork.

Moving to the cabin and the youthful appearance continues. There is a simple three-spoke steering wheel and an 8.0-inch color touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Hyundai has also created an intriguing 3D ‘honeycomb’ design that is featured on the dashboard and door panels. The new i10 is available as a four- or five-seater model.

Key safety features found in the all-new i10 include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, High Beam Assist, Lane Keep Assist System, Driver Attention Warning, and the Intelligent Speed Limit Warning from Hyundai’s SmartSense active safety suite.

Two powertrains will be available at launch. The first is a 1.0-liter MPi three-cylinder with 66 hp and 70 lb-ft (96 Nm) of torque. The second engine is a larger 1.2-liter MPi four-cylinder with 82 hp and 87 lb-ft (118 Nm). Both engines can be paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automated manual transmission.
