We know a number of supercar owners who are as humble as can be but we also know a number that have over-inflated egos (mainly) thanks to the cars they drive. We suspect the owner of the following red McLaren 720S fits into that second category.

This dashcam video was filmed in Victoria, Australia and shows a red McLaren, just like the dozens of motorists around them, stuck in traffic. However, the 720S owner was clearly in a rush to get somewhere and thought it would be a good idea to accelerate down the service lane in order to jump the queue and cut a few seconds off their commute time. Bad decision.

As the driver of the McLaren pulls out from the Mazda3 in front and hits the throttle, the sound of the McLaren’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine fills the tunnel, ensuring everyone around the car was aware of the dangerous maneuver. Just seconds later, an undercover Volkswagen Passat Estate police car switches on its lights and sirens after witnessing the entire thing.

The cammer is pretty pleased with what he sees and can be heard clapping and exclaiming “Yeah! Yeah!” We suspect other motorists in the tunnel reacted in the same way after seeing police pull over the McLaren driver.

Police in Victoria aren’t particularly lenient for driving violations, to put it lightly, and we suspect the 720S owner was slapped with a hefty fine.

Funnily enough, I happened to drive past this exact McLaren 720S a few hours after writing this article. He wasn’t breaking any road rules at the time.
