Donkervoort has announced technical specifications of the limited-edition D8 GTO-JD70 it first presented back in August.

The lightweight sports car was developed to celebrate the 70th birthday of company founder, Joop Donkervoort, and is the highest-performing vehicle in its range.

Power comes courtesy of a 2.5-liter, turbocharged five-cylinder producing 415 HP and 383 lb-ft (520 Nm) of torque. Sending power to the rear wheels is a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission and a new limited-slip differential. Among the key upgrades made to the D8 GTO-JD70 are a new exhaust system, adjustable front and rear sway bars, and three-way adjustable shock absorbers.

The small Dutch company says the car can pull more than 2G (!) of lateral acceleration during cornering on its standard road tires as well as 1.65G of deceleration. It will also rocket off the line at a peak of 1.02G.

Upgrades have also been made to the car’s aerodynamics with a new front fascia, wheel arches, and other changes resulting in 80 kg (176 lbs) of rear downforce and 50 kg (110 lbs) of front downforce. An eye-catching rear diffuser is also featured. More than 95 per cent of the car’s bodywork is made from carbon fiber, resulting in a total weight of less than 700 kg (1543 lbs).

“The JD70 has moved beyond the normal measures for acceleration, braking and cornering so we’re using G forces now. The car is a pure driver’s machine like nothing else on the market,” Donkervoort managing director Denis Donkervoort said about the car. “The JD70 is the distillation of everything we know and everything we’ve learned on the road and the racetrack, from track days and from customer talks and, of course, from Joop’s own ideas on what a supercar should be to its driver.”

Just 70 examples of the D8 GTO-JD70 will be produced, with pricing starting from €163,636 ($181,240).
