Roughly four years after its world debut in India, the Renault Kwid crossover receives its first major facelift.
Unsurprisingly, India is also the first market worldwide to get the facelifted Kwid, which adopts strong design cues from China’s K-ZE electric crossover unveiled earlier this year. The main updates take place at the front where the 2020 Kwid gains a split headlight setup consisting of LED DRLs positioned next to the grille, with the main headlamps placed lower down in the bumper in a deep recess.
Other exterior changes include a new grille with horizontal slats, refreshed bumpers (with reflectors on the sides at the rear), and new LED elements in the taillights.

The range-topping Climber trim also gets faux skid plates, roof rails, 14-inch gunmetal grey alloy wheels, and orange accents. The ground clearance of 184 mm (7.2 in) remains unchanged.
Inside, the facelifted Kwid now features a larger 8-inch touchscreen MediaNav Evolution infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster that includes a tachometer – both sourced from the Renault Triber. The infotainment interface offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Video Playback and Voice Recognition, plus a reverse parking camera.
A new steering wheel is also on the menu, and models equipped with the automated manual transmission now feature the round gear shifter on the center console instead of the dashboard. New seat fabrics and door pad trim round off the interior updates.
The Renault Kwid continues to offer the same naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engines: a 0.8-liter unit making 54 PS (53 HP) and a 1.0-liter rated at 68 PS (67 HP). The smaller engine comes with a five-speed manual gearbox only, while the more powerful unit also offers the option of a five-speed automated manual transmission. Prices in India start from 283,000 rupees before taxes, the equivalent of $4,000 at the current exchange rates.
