Volkswagen has delivered the 100,000th example of the e-Golf almost five years after the all-electric version of the compact hatchback entered production.
The special e-Golf was handed over to its owner during a special ceremony at the Gläserne Manufaktur Dresden. The electric Golf entered production in Wolfsburg in 2014, but due to the high demand, the model has been additionally been built in Dresden’s ‘transparent factory’ for nearly three years now.
“Today’s delivery milestone of 100,000 vehicles is confirmation of the e-Golf’s success in fulfilling its mission. It therefore plays an important role in the mobility turnaround for many customers and paves the way for the new ID.3,” said Holger B. Santel, VW’s Head of Sales and Marketing Germany.

“The e-Golf has made the Gläserne Manufaktur a vibrant showcase for e-mobility since 2017. We will produce over 16,000 units this year – an all-time high. We are delighted to have set this new record,” added Henning Schulzki, Head of Sales and Marketing at the Dresden factory.
The new ID.3, which will indirectly replace the e-Golf in the coming months, is already being built in Zwickau since earlier this month and will also enter production in Dresden next fall.
The e-Golf comes with a 134 HP electric motor and offers a driving range of up to 230 km (143 miles) on the WLTP cycle. The German car maker has sold around 27,900 examples worldwide from January to October of this year, already surpassing 2018’s full-year deliveries that totaled 24,800 units.
