The Audi RS5 Sportback was set loose at the Magny-Cours GP. MotorsportMagazine put Romain Monti in the driver’s seat, who lapped the track in 1:59.97.
The unofficial time achieved on the circuit located in central France, close to the cities of Magny-Cours and Nevers, puts the German sports model ahead of the Porsche 911 Carrera S, Jaguar F-Type SVR and Mercedes-AMG C63 S and Coupe S, FastestLaps reveals.

Monti also drove the BMW M3 and M2 Competition, Porsche 718 Cayman S and M5 F90, which were between a few tenths of a second and a little over a second quicker than the RS5 Sportback. At the top of the chart we find the McLaren Senna, with 1:42.99, four tenths of a second ahead of the Radical SR8 RX. The pro racing driver put the Ferrari 488 Pista through its paces as well, achieving a time of 1:44.90, and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, in 1:47.16.
Audi updated the RS5 Sportback earlier this month, giving it some visual tweaks alongside a new 10.1-inch infotainment screen and improved handling. The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 remains the same, though, pushing out 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. The gasoline-burner is hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive, rocketing the car to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.9 seconds. Top speed can be optionally increased to 280 km/h (174 mph). Pricing in Germany starts at €83,500 ($92,549).
