The crossover coupe craze continues as Nio has unveiled the all-new EC6 in Shenzhen, China.

Described as “young, dynamic and progressive,” the EC6 is a stylish crossover that features a long hood, a rakish windscreen and a steeply sloping roof. The model also has plastic body cladding, flush mounted door handles and slender lighting units.

Nio didn’t say much about the crossover, but they confirmed the EC6 has and “all-glass roof” and a drag coefficient of 0.27. The latter figure means the model is even sleeker than the BMW X4.

Full details are expected to be announced in July of 2020, but Nio said the EC6 Performance will be equipped with two electric motors that produce a combined output of 536 hp (400 kW / 544 PS). This will enable the crossover to run from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 4.7 seconds.

In terms of range, the EC6 will be offered with the company’s new 100 kWh battery pack. This will allow the Performance variant to travel up to 382 miles (615 km) in the New European Driving Cycle.

Besides introducing the EC6, Nio unveiled an updated ES8 which features revised styling, an updated powertrain and new technology. Among the changes are a “smart charging port cover” and an NFC key. The crossover also gains a larger 9.8-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch infotainment system with a portrait orientation.

In terms of performance, the ES8 has two electric motors that produce up to 536 hp (400 kW / 544 PS) and 535 lb-ft (725 Nm) of torque. This enables the seven seater to run from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds and travel up to 360 miles (580 km) on a single charge.

Deliveries of the updated ES8 are slated to begin in April, while the EC6 will be launched in September. Unfortunately, the 100 kWh battery pack isn’t expected to be available until the fourth quarter of 2020.
